They may appear like a dead grass patch lined with fur. Mama Rabbit feeds her kits twice per day, at dawn and dusk, and then stays away from the nest to protect her babies from predators. A problem for the babies is pets like cats and dogs getting into the nest. Please keep pets away from nests. If you find a nest, place a wire fence or laundry basket around it. Be sure to leave a gap large enough for the mother rabbit to visit. Before mowing or weedeating Do a walk-through before mowing or weed-eating. Remember, the nests are shallow, so law care can be deadly. delicate babies stay less than a month in the nest before hopping out into the big world.
Please help wildlife thrive in our urban communities
Dragonflies fascinate us with their delicate fluttering wings and beautiful translucency. But they are much more than vibrant-colored insects; they let us know the health of ecosystems.
The presence of dragonflies and damselflies indicates a healthy aquatic environment. Since they live most of their lives underwater in rivers, lakes, ponds, and streams, their presence signifies healthy water quality. Dragonflies are also beneficial to your yard since they can eat over a hundred mosquitoes in a single day. Ready to attract dragonflies and damselflies? Start by creating a water feature that is at least two feet deep with some water lilies and irises. Mosquito larvae prefer shallow water.
