The Arctic sea ice has been melting faster than it can re-freezes in winter. A major ocean current in the Arctic is faster and more turbulent as a result of rapid sea ice melt, a new study from NASA shows.

Gulf of Mexico Dead Zone starts at the Mississippi River delta and extends to upper parts of Texas. The dead zone is caused by an increase in nutrients (particularly nitrogen and phosphorus) that flow from the Mississippi River in the ocean. 

Mediterranean Sea is polluted with sewage, mercury, and agricultural chemicals.

Coral bleaching has devastated two-thirds of Australia's Great Barrier Reef. The bleaching is caused by  unusually high water temperatures

There are some pristine places. The cleanest air on Earth is above in the Southern Ocean surrounding Antarctica.

The South Pacific is the least polluted ocean in the world.  The ocean is the least traveled by ships and has less people inhabiting its small islands.
